Work Packages
Work Package 1 – Project Management and Scientific Coordination
Ensuring a smooth and efficient project workflow lays at the core of WP1. We establish a clear organisational framework and provide comprehensive coordination and guidance. Through impact-oriented management and proactive risk assessment including tailored mitigation measures, we safeguard high-quality results and maximise the usability of all project outputs.
Work Package 2 – Federated Platform and Access Development
WP2 aims to design, develop, and deploy the federated, web-based platform that provides a one-stop-shop experience for end users. It will integrate all participating EuroHPC quantum computing (QC) hosting sites while fully respecting their autonomy and access control policies. In addition, we will actively promote the co-design of benchmarking suites and reference testing codes, by ensuring controlled access to European QC and HPC-QC resources.
Work Package 3 – Applications
WP3 seeks to bring quantum computing closer to real-world impact by applying quantum algorithms and routines to applications across a broad range of scientific and industrial domains. The work package will develop the hardware-independent application library, accompanied by relevant quantum algorithms, ensuring flexibility and long-term usability across different quantum platforms.
A key objective is to identify and map the most suitable quantum hardware for each application and to demonstrate solutions on quantum computers (QCs) and HPC-QC systems hosted at participating EuroHPC sites. In addition, WP3 will evaluate the readiness, performance, and effectiveness of the implemented hybrid quantum-HPC solutions.
Work Package 4 – Integration of new end-user applications and co-designing activities
Bridging the gap between scientific and industrial needs lies at the core of WP4. We will identify the key groups of potential end users and analyse the specific challenges they face when adopting and applying quantum algorithms.
Building on these insights, WP4 promotes the co-design of quantum-enhanced solutions tailored to practical requirements and will define a dedicated benchmarking suite for quantum computing applications.
Work Package 5 – Training and Talent Development
WP5 strengthens Quantum Computing (QC) skills across academia and industry. It builds a European training ecosystem closely connected to other QECs and EuroHPC initiatives to accelerate the application of quantum technologies.
Through the development of high-quality training materials, collaborative workshops and hackathons, and continuous exchange between experts, WP5 enhances QC capacities across Europe while attracting new talents and training the next generation of quantum professionals.
Work Package 6 – Dissemination, Communication, Exploitation, Sustainability, Networking
In WP6, we deliver sustainable dissemination and communication activities to increase the project’s visibility and foster synergies between our partners and key stakeholders across academia, industry, and policy. We support QEC4QEA in establishing its one-stop shop for quantum-enhanced applications through systematic stakeholder analysis, proactive engagement, and targeted exploitation measures. Driven by an impact-oriented approach, we foster knowledge transfer and the sustainable exploitation of QEC4QEA’s results. Our goal is to contribute to building a pan-European quantum ecosystem.
