Università degli Studi di Padova

The Department of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Padova is one the largest Department in Europe. It hosts a section of the Italian Institute for Nuclear Physics (INFN), the Quantum Computing and Simulation Center (QCSC), and the Italian Quantum Alliance.

The Quantum and Information Matter group has long-standing expertise in the development and application of cutting-edge numerical and theoretical techniques to advance quantum science and technology. In particular, the group has pioneered the development of Tensor Network–based methods that enable accurate large-scale simulations of complex quantum systems. These powerful algorithms not only allow the study of complex quantum many-body systems but also provide a framework to probe and benchmark newly developed quantum algorithms.

Role within QEC4QEA

The Quantum Information and Matter group at the University of Padova will leverage its numerical expertise to develop tensor network–based emulators for benchmarking the quantum algorithms developed within the project, particularly those related to factorization, post-quantum cryptography, and optimization problems. Moreover, these tools will also be employed to investigate novel quantum algorithms for solving partial differential equations.
