Barcelona Supercomputing Center

BSC is the Spanish national supercomputing facility and hosting MareNostrum 5, one of the most powerful supercomputers in Europe with a PP of 314 petaflop/s. BSC is at the service of the international scientific community and of industry that requires HPC resources. BSC’s multidisciplinary research team and its computational facilities – including MareNostrum – make BSC an international center of excellence in e-Science. Since its establishment in 2005, BSC has developed an active role in promoting HPC in Spain and Europe as an essential tool for international competitiveness in science and engineering. The center manages the Red Española de Supercomputación (RES), and was a founding and hosting member of the former European HPC infrastructure PRACE (Partnership for Advanced Computing in Europe), and is now hosting entity for EuroHPC JU. BSC actively participates in the main European HPC initiatives, in close cooperation with other European supercomputing centers.

Role within QEC4QEA

BSC-CNS participates in the development of Quantum algorithms targeting applications of numerical solvers for problems such as complex differential equations or network optimisation. BSC-CNS also coordinates the effort to connect all the applications advanced by the technical partners inside the QEC4QEA project with the needs and requirements of external users.
